Welcome

“Science, in all its senses, is a social process that both causes and is caused by social organization. To do science is to be a social actor engaged, whether one likes it or not, in political activity.”

—Richard Levins & Richard Lewontin, The Dialectical Biologist (1985)

by Elizabeth Fox-Wolfe, 1972

Science for the People (SftP) is an organization dedicated to the radical transformation of science and society. We recognize that science is neither neutral nor objective but inherently political in its entanglement with social processes. We reject the insulation of science from society and of natural science from the multitude of human knowledge. We direct practitioners of science—students, workers, educators, activists—toward struggles against exploitation, expropriation, and extermination. We insist on a science for the people.
